Chicago Sports Teams Unite To Raise Money For Charity At The 2nd Annual Home Team
Charity Run™ on May 6, 2012
CHICAGO -Nov. 7, 2011 – Flair Communications (www.hometeamcharityrun.org) is proud to announce the 2nd annual Home Team Charity Run™ will be on Sunday, May 6, 2012. The Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox fans will be coming together for a 5K and 10K race followed by a Post-Race Festival that includes food, beverages and music from Chicago’s own Michael McDermott and his Rock ‘N Roll Band. Also 500 randomly selected runners will have a chance to have their picture taken with the White Sox and Bulls championship trophies.
“Last year was such a great success we are excited to do this again” says Vice President of Flair Communications Kevin Kennedy. “We received a lot of feedback from the participants last year and have made adjustments to the event that enable us to provide a better route, more race excitement and more prizes.”
One of the changes this year is the race will start and end at U.S. Cellular Field, allowing for a 10k run and 5k run/walk event. The new course will allow for the runners to have easier access to transportation before and after the race as well as FREE parking at U.S. Cellular. The map can be found on the Home Team Charity Run™ website. Changes also include a later date, to increase the chances of warmer and dryer weather and to help the runners to be further along in their training.
All of the runners will receive a long sleeve moisture wicking jersey that is personalized with each participating teams’ name and team colors. At registration the runner can choose their favorite team and receive that jersey at the packet pick-up at U.S. Cellular on the Friday and Saturday before the Run.
The 1st place male runner and female runner in the 10k race will each win four tickets to a Chicago White Sox game including a free parking pass and will also receive VIP treatment by being introduced as the winner of the Home Team Charity Run and have name and times on the Jumbotron. Winners will also receive a first place HTCR trophy.
The top three male and female runners of each age bracket in the 10k race will win a pair of tickets to attend a White Sox game, a Chicago Blackhawks and a Bulls game. (A total of 6 tickets for 3 games.) The top five male and female runners in the 5k run/walk will each receive a HTCR plaque recognizing their accomplishment.
25% of all registration fees will go to benefit each of the charities our participating home teams represent. The total raised from the race will be divided equally among all three participating teams. The goal is to raise over $100,000 for local charities this year.
